Meet the State Officer Candidates

The Kansas FFA Association is pleased to congratulate the 14 state officer candidates vying for a State FFA Office in 2009. The candidates were interviewed by an appointed committee of former State Officers and Agricultural Education Advisors during the 81st State FFA Convention, held May 26-29, 2009, in Manhattan, Kan.

Candidates are evaluated on their application, a written test, writing exercises and five interview rounds. The interview rounds include one-on-one interviews, delivering a speech, facilitating a workshop, round robin interviews and a personal interview round. Of these 14, six will be chosen to represent the organization for the coming year. The new state officers will be announced on-stage at the State FFA convention, on Friday, May 29. Once elected, the officers will travel across the state informing people about agricultural science education and FFA.

Previous State FFA President Bethany Bohnenblust served as the chair of the nominating committee. "The intense process that these 14 candidates committed themselves to consists of a multitude of scored areas and really revealing themselves to the committee,” Bohnenblust stated. “In the end, the process is all about unveiling how a candidate’s past experiences have influenced and will continue to influence their future behavior."
